For those people out there who believe 2012 is the end of the world,
here are some facts disproving your theories:
The world was supposed to end thousands of time before. Why would it
end now?
1. One
of the most popular theories is that the Mayans predicted the end of the world
through their calendar. May I point out that we also have a calendar that ends
on December 31, does this mean that every time our calendar ends it means the
end of the world? I hope not! The end of the Mayan calendar is just the end of
the cycle, just like our calendar. (Side note: there can not be a 1000 year old
Mayan chipping away an old piece of stone just to continue the “Mayan
Calendar”.)
2. Niburu
(Planet X) is supposedly going to come close to earth and cause some
catastrophes. If this were so we would have seen said planet long before it
would have reached earth. If it was somehow invisible we would see it coming by
watching the other planets and stars around it. (Side Note: Thousands of
astronomers would not keep quiet if there was potential of ending all life on
this planet. I’m not sure about you but I like my life and I’m sure they do too,
therefore they would let someone know and try to stop the dooms day of the
earth.)
3. Another
theory is there is going to be a solar storm. Solar storms exist; there is a cycle
the sun goes through every 12 years (minimum: year 1; maximum: year 12). The next
solar maximum is scheduled on May 2013.
4. Planetary
alignment is a joke! The world was supposed to end in 2000 when the planets
aligned, but look we are still here! On top of that, there are no planetary
alignments in the month of December. Even if there were, there would be no
effect on the earth. The only planets that have an effect on the earth’s tides
are the sun and the moon.
5. The
switching of the magnetic poles or axes will not happen either. The rotation
axis can’t shift because of the orbit of the moon around the earth. The magnetic
poles do shift, but the last time that happened was 740,000 years ago and it does
that sort of shift every half a million years. Even if it were shifting it take
thousands of years to do it and if they did shift the only thing we would need
to do is recalibrate our compasses.
Finally people will stop complaining :)
